Once a cheater always a cheater?
by Aalena ini caught my boyfriend of 8 years cheating on me about a month ago.
he claims it is the only time he has ever cheated and he never thought he would ever cheat nor would he ever do it again.
some of my friends are upset at me saying i should have left him immeditately.

Did you ever shun people when you were a dub? How did it feel?
by oldlightnewshite inokay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!
it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.
i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.

Yes... My mom. She was DF'ed a few years ago, and I did shun.
Oh how we all rejoiced when she decided to restore her relationship with Jehovah! Actually even for a while after, I didn't treat her very well and didn't trust her. Looking back, it was definitely a conditioned response from the mind control, no question about it.
Just like nicolau, I felt terrible once I woke up. She was DF'ed again about 6 months ago. I eventually called her and apologized for the way I treated her last time she was differs, and it won't happen again. I told her that this would be a good time for us to work on our relationship.
Her response? "That sounds nice, but its not right. It's Jehovah's arrangement!"
I told her I have tried to find a true scriptural basis for shunning, and there isn't one. Would a God of love force us to shun our family? What would Jesus have done?
"Well... It's just not right. It's the arrangement and we have to follow it".
She obviously is still in mentally which must be torture, especially living in a small town.
I wonder if she would shun me if we were both Diffed? I'm sure if that were the case she would try to "encourage" me to get back in.
Wonderful little cult isn't it?

I recieved a typical JW forward with the "annual meeting notes".
I think it was the same one that was copy and pasted here in one of the threads. That alone will get most JWs believing it, although they will wait for it to be in print.
Question: how many JWs will just say "that's not new, they were always the FDS?"

Questions/Points That Went Unanswered
by Still Recovery ini would like to use this thread as a means of organizing all unanswered questions/points made on threads i started since obviously i could not answer something when i was banned..
-
Captain Obvious
If I were to make a list, it would be compiled by going through the numerous threads that were started with questions for you to answer. Perhaps you could do that yourself? You have an account now... Just remember why you were banned in the first place.
im not sure what your motivation is for coming here, but honestly... I glad you are. SOME of your arguments are some of the best I have seen from a true believer. I'm confident you would be at least as capable as my local elders to answer questions. Difference is, you can't DF me for asking them. I haven't asked you anything personally, but I do like to browse your threads.
However you do have people here a little on edge, and your ARROGANCE is so tiring. You talk down to people while making irrelevant or fallacious arguments. You may see us a bird food, you may be looking for answers to your own questions... Who knows.
I, for one, am glad that you aren't as intellectually lazy as most Dubs.
I look forward to the day the scales fall from your eyes, and the house of cards falls down for you as it has for so m any of us on here. The true ex-JW Recovery will be a great asset to the board when it happens!
Yes I say that definitely, because it is the only like possibility if you keep coming here. You know it's true... Just let it happen.

'paying careful attention to any direction that we receive through jehovah's organization(gb) and applying it at once.. many who have rid themselves of needless debt can testify that applying wise counsel(of the gb) to simplify their life.
has benefited them during the recent economic crises".

The WT (like every corporation) has to switch gears to accommodate economic changes.
The first statement is so illogical. By that same line of reasoning, if I were to tell you to wash your face and brush your teeth twice a day, would I get the credit for your clear skin and clean teeth?
Yep, sounds like divine direction to me.......

What did God accomplish with the flood?
by jam inthe purpose of the flood, because man grieved him to.
his heart, so he started over.
did his plan work?

Nothing. He accomplished nothing. Because it didn't happen. OR perhaps he just forgot to provide us with physical proof?
Just makes him look like the OT asshole he is.

At This Point In Your Life Would You Care If You Were Disfellowshipped or Disassociated?
by minimus ini'm curious..
-
Captain Obvious
Ok, I'll bite Elephant.
No, there's not a huge difference. It doesn't matter to most, and the announcement is the same. DAing would be easier, the letter wouldn't have to go into any detail, it just has to state that you no longer wish to be a member, or be recognized as a JW. Even an unbaptized pub. Can do this, though there is no need.
A DFing involves Judicial committees, which aren't pleasant for anybody, and could possibly be with men you've been close with for many years. As stated above, the JC arrangement is not only unscriptural, it violates human rights in many countries. If a country were to have a legal system that runs like JWs, it would be nothing short of a corrupt tyranny.
This thread isn't about the difference the question asked would you care if you were - like if you've completely successfully faded to the point that your life would hardly change if they made an announcement in your old cong.

Recovery and Elephant
by tornapart inwould love to see them debating in a thread with each other.....
-
Captain Obvious
Those two aren't. Here to debate with each other, they're here to slay the apostates and their LIES!
And honestly, I'm really glad they're both here. Recovery seems to put forward SOME good points, and as far as I've read, the best I've seen that the society would be able to put forward. Unfortunately, though his info and excuses explanations are good, his reasoning skills seem to be much like a watchtower study. Lots of circular reasoning.I m not qualified to get into one of those threads, but even with my limited critical thinking skills it's easy to see. Keep it up though recovery! Just before you came on the scene I remember thinking that he need another DJeggnogg.
Elephant likes to jump in on the lighter threads, and derail the hell out of them with red herrings. I've really enjoyed debating with him, but it's hard to keep it all on point. I do, however like to see a believer who isn't just here to be a snarky dick.
To both of you, I wish you all the best in your apostate slaying conquests. I wish I could have stuck to the theology of the JWs as well as you! It can't be easy to come on here and see all these things written about your beloved Org. Please know that your input is greatly appreciated. Is nice to have JW apologists who aren't arrogant assholes like DJ was, and not a hit and run like nanananana.

What's The Worst Thing About Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus infor me, i think it's that the witnesses teach they are god's spokesman.
they represent his "faithful & discreet slave"....and that they alone are expounders of the only truth and that if you disagree with anything they teach, you are considered worse than vomit.. it's unbelievable because these people are wrong so many times, it cannot be excused!.
as a witness, you must accept every viewpoint and if you (and your family) do not accept it all, hook, line and sinker, you are "apostates"!!!.
-
Captain Obvious
While BEING a witness, I'd say growing up resenting your family's faith, even if you're a believer. Always feeling different than your school friends, who can't get too close because there's that friendship line they can't cross.
Then after growing up, getting married and THEN waking up, the worst part is not knowing HOW or even IF you'll be able to wake up any family or friends. That's even worse than realizing you've been in a CULT your whole life.

Quoting out of context - ever justified?
by cognisonance injw literature on subjects such as creation vs. evolution often quote out of context, with the most recent material (the newest brochures) acknowledging that often those quoted to support the jw viewpoint do believe in evolution nonetheless.
sometimes indeed quotes in jw literature are just outright misquotes, leaving off preceding or succeeding words (or sentences) that would completely alter the meaning of the source sited (i.e.
carl sagans quote, the fossil evidence could be consistent with the idea of a great designer is indeed a flat out misquote).. .
